Sunflower Bean have shared Sonic Youth-influenced track ‘Crashing Highs’ from a new deluxe edition of ‘Mortal Primetime’

Sunflower Bean have released a new single, ‘Crashing Highs’, and confirmed a deluxe edition of their recent album ‘Mortal Primetime’ via Lucky Number, featuring five additional tracks.

The New York trio – Julia Cumming (vocals, bass), Nick Kivlen (vocals, guitar), and Olive Faber (drums) – issued ‘Mortal Primetime’ earlier this year, their first self-produced full-length and the follow-up to 2022’s ‘Headful of Sugar’.

Introducing the new track, the band say ‘Crashing Highs’ is “about chasing the past and losing grip on something that once felt huge, the peaks and valleys of infatuation until it slips away completely. We were very influenced by Sonic Youth on this one, wanting something with the energy of room, raw guitars, and splashing cymbals.” Reflecting on the wider album ethos, Julia Cumming adds, “You get to decide what your prime is, and you fight for it. This is ours.”

The tracklisting for ‘Mortal Primetime (Deluxe)’ reads:

‘Champagne Taste’
‘Nothing Romantic’
‘Waiting For The Rain’
‘Look What You’ve Done To Me’
‘I Knew Love’
‘Take Out Your Insides’
‘There’s A Part I Can’t Get Back’
‘Please Rewind’
‘Shooting Star’
‘Sunshine’
‘No Bills In Heaven’
‘Raggedy Anne’
‘Lady Daydream’
‘Crashing Highs’
‘Watch You Walk Away’
