Sprints have released a new single, ‘Better’, taken from their forthcoming second album ‘All That Is Over’, which is set to arrive on 26th September via City Slang worldwide and Sub Pop in North America.
The track arrives with a video directed by Niamh Bryson. ‘All That Is Over’ was written largely on the road, across tour buses and soundchecks. It follows the Dublin group’s debut, ‘Letter To Self’.
Karla Chubb says, “[It] sounds like a love song but definitely isn’t,” adding: “It explores the idea not of liking someone better, but only liking them when they’re better. It’s tough, sad, but honest and frank. It’s an old demo that was brought back in conversation by Sam and backed by Zac. It’s inspired quite heavily by MBV, especially the Loveless album, and has touches of Big Dreams by Amyl and the Sniffers.”
On the video, director Niamh Bryson comments: “When I first heard ‘Better’, I couldn’t not resonate with it. The heartbreak, the intimacy and vulnerability. The slower pace. It forces you to take a moment and to sit in your emotions, as you reflect on a time when someone made you experience them. I immediately wanted to take the feeling that it gave me and create a narrative that can echo the deeply personal and yet universal experience of heartbreak.”
