The Beaches have shared a new single ‘Lesbian Of The Year’, from their upcoming album ‘No Hard Feelings’

The Beaches have shared a new single, ‘Lesbian Of The Year’, taken from their forthcoming album ‘No Hard Feelings’, which arrives on 29th August via AWAL.

Shifting from the more uptempo focus of recent tracks, ‘Lesbian Of The Year’ introduces a slower, reflective side of the record. Centred on guitarist and keyboardist Leandra Earl’s experience of coming to terms with her sexuality later in life, it extends the band’s emphasis on candid, personal songwriting.

“‘Lesbian Of The Year’ is about the shame I felt coming out later in life and the pressure of trying to live up to ‘Lesbian of the Year,’ a title given to me by my sweet fans,” shares Leandra. “I feel regret for not knowing myself sooner, but this song is also about the journey of self discovery & sexual identity and accepting that everyone is on their own timeline and we’ll get there when we get there.”

The Canadian four-piece will launch a headlining North American tour in September, with a special appearance at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles on 3rd September. Tickets are on sale now.

The new single follows The Beaches’ cover of ‘Ultimate’ for the official soundtrack to Disney’s Freakier Friday. The film also features ‘Last Girls at the Party’, lifted from ‘No Hard Feelings’. Previous singles include ‘Touch Myself’ and ‘Did I Say Too Much’, with first taster ‘Jocelyn’ arriving in September of last year.
