Mayday Parade have confirmed the second album in their anniversary trilogy, ‘Sad’

Mayday Parade are set to continue their 20th anniversary celebrations with ‘Sad’, the second instalment in their self-released album trilogy, alongside the new single ‘Under My Sweater’.

The Tallahassee-formed five-piece – Derek Sanders, Alex Garcia, Brooks Betts, Jeremy Lenzo and Jake Bundrick – follow ‘Sweet’ with a slower, more introspective counterpart.

“It’s difficult to sing about a sweater without invoking Weezer, but that’s part of what I love about this song,” says Sanders. “‘Under My Sweater’ wears its inspirations on its sleeve and feels both a part of old school nostalgic emo as well as something modern and a step forward for Mayday Parade.”

Across the record, the band explore softer edges, from the heartbreak of ‘Promises’ to the falsetto-led ballad ‘One Day At A Time’ and the reflective ‘I Miss The 90s’. The release closes with a multi-part suite, ‘I Must Obey The Inscrutable Exhortations Of My Soul’.
