Florence + The Machine are seemingly signalling some something coming soon with a new teaser.
The clip depicts Florence Welch urgently digging in a windswept, empty field before peering into the hole and unleashing three screams. Welch wears a long red dress and matching shoes in the clip. No caption or further details accompanied the post.
The video follows a cryptic photo series posted last month. One image showed a whiteboard reading “You can have it all”, alongside the words “clarity”, “power”, “purpose”, “vocals”, “space”, “dynamics” and “beauty”. Another picture featured Welch in the studio with IDLES guitarist Mark Bowen, while a separate slide included the word “October”. A notebook page referenced themes such as “witchcraft”, “folk horror”, “magic” and “insanity”.
Glass Animals responded to the carousel, writing, “omggggg,”. The two acts have previous connections: frontman Dave Bayley worked on Florence + The Machine’s 2022 album, ‘Dance Fever’, alongside Welch, Jack Antonoff, Kid Harpoon and Doveman.
This year has seen Florence + The Machine mark the 10th anniversary of third album ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’. In 2024, Welch and co. performed a one-off orchestral show at London’s Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms to mark 15 years of debut album ‘Lungs’, released as the live album ‘Symphony Of Lungs’.
Earlier this summer, Welch joined The Maccabees during their closing Park Stage headline set at Glastonbury 2025 for ‘Love You Better’ and ‘Dog Days Are Over’, while she also appeared with Taylor Swift at Wembley Stadium last summer to perform their collaboration ‘Florida!!!’, featured on Everything Is Recorded’s single ‘Never Felt Better’ with Sampha this year, and contributed music to a new Broadway adaptation of The Great Gatsby.
