GIRLBAND! have dropped their heavy new single ‘Thelma & Louise’, and announced a gaming collaboration

GIRLBAND! have released their new single ‘Thelma & Louise’ alongside announcing a collaboration with gaming platform Avakin Life.

The track, which the band describe as one of their heaviest to date, features a prominent guitar riff from singer Georgie. It follows their recent live performances supporting the Sex Pistols and their second appearance at Glastonbury.

“I wrote this song while sat on the sofa at home watching Thelma and Louise. I had this heavy riff and was like this whole theme fits perfectly. It’s a feeling that matches the ethos of girlband wholly. Empowered within friends who get free of the baggage at home and find themselves in the whirlwind of freedom that being on the road brings. It’s about friendship, empowerment and freedom ultimately,” explains Georgie.

The Nottingham group have also announced a partnership with hometown gaming platform Avakin Life, where they will feature in the Solar Live Festival. The collaboration includes custom avatars, an in-game photo booth, branded collectibles and interactive festival elements.

Speaking about the gaming collaboration, the band state: “With such a classic and timeless theme the partnership with games company Avakin fits so well. Bringing all that energy to this amazing game. With Avakin being local to our hometown it felt like such a lovely progression to make all together. Taking us through or playable characters was so fun. And we hope that we can connect to even more people this way, who can join us on the road of fun and being oneself.”
