“Venarum Mundi” by Artist Faith XLVII

A delicate deconstruction of the economic and geopolitical systems that govern our world by South African artist Faith XLVII (previously featured here). “Venarum Mundi” uses discontinued currency, maps, and flags to literally weave together complex commentaries on value, borders, and the shifting forces that shape our global reality. Faith XLVII crafts intricately hand-sewn tapestries that reimagine the boundaries of borders, wealth, place, earth and sea. The meticulously handmade objects echo the fragile fabric of the world and the inherent tensions of migration and territoriality. Each artwork questions the very materiality from which it has been made—signals of stability rendered obsolete.

“Venarum Mundi” is currently on view by appointment at Heron Gallery until tomorrow, August 2nd!
