London indie punk trio cheerbleederz are set to release their new EP ‘prove me wrong’ on 5th September via Alcopop! Records, alongside sharing lead single ‘i deserved better’.
The EP, which follows their 2022 debut album ‘even in jest’, was recorded with producer Rich Mandell at The Bookhouse Studio, London. The collection explores themes of taking control and growing apart from friendships, with drummer Phoebe Cross explaining: “If your friendships don’t serve you anymore, or they feel more like a competition, it’s time to let go! Feeling a bit defeated after a hang with a friend is not how you should feel.”
Guitarist Kathryn Woods discusses the lead single, saying: “‘i deserved better’ is about knowing your self worth, and recognising when you’re in a rut. The chorus doesn’t even have any real words, but sometimes you don’t need em!”
