Deaf Havana have dropped ‘Car Crash’ ahead of their seventh album and UK tour

Deaf Havana are teasing their seventh album ‘We’re Never Getting Out’, set for release on 3rd October via So Recordings, with new single ‘Car Crash’.

The album, recorded at Otterhead Studios in Rugby during November 2024, features twelve tracks and was created in collaboration with producer George Glew, known for his work with Keir, Hanniou and Scout. The record includes contributions from The 1975’s Ross MacDonald on bass and drummer Freddie Sheed.

“‘Car Crash’ is really a pretty sad song for me… surprise, surprise,” James Veck-Gilodi explains. “I wrote it whilst I was still in my previous relationship, but I knew it was coming to an end and I was full of very conflicting feelings and emotions. I didn’t really know how to navigate them without causing harm. It’s about that feeling when you know the magic has gone or maybe admit to yourself that it was never really there in the first place.”

The album marks a new direction for the band, with Veck-Gilodi reflecting on the creative process: “It’s excitement I feel now and not dread. I used to dread going on stage and on tour. I used to dread releasing albums and talking about them because I didn’t know what I was doing. Now, I’ve never been clearer about what this all is. I know I can back myself enough to know I will put everything I have into this. And I am so proud of these songs because we worked so hard on them. This is the best Deaf Havana album and the best thing I have ever been a part of writing.”
