Joy Crookes has dropped a video for new single ‘Perfect Crime’ filmed in Bangladesh

Joy Crookes has released a new video for her latest single ‘Perfect Crime’, filmed in Bangladesh. The visual accompaniment features Crookes riding atop a moving train against a backdrop of city and rural landscapes, incorporating cultural elements that reflect her heritage.

The single arrives ahead of Crookes’ second album ‘Juniper’, which she co-produced alongside Harvey Grant. The track explores themes of returning to dating, with Crookes taking a significant role in both its musical production and visual direction.

“Perfect Crime is written about that scary bit of time just before you go back into the dating world and you need to just bite the bullet and dive into something. It’s kind of like my version of a mantra or doing positive affirmations in the mirror…this song is basically me giving myself a pep talk,” Crookes explains.

‘Juniper’ features collaborations with Vince Staples on ‘Pass The Salt’ and Kano on ‘Mathematics’. The album was created alongside producers Blue May, Tev’n, and Harvey Grant. “With Juniper, every situation is visceral and I’m very much in it. It’s me in the centre of it all,” says Crookes of the new record.
