Los Angeles quartet Rocket have announced their debut album ‘R Is For Rocket’, set for release on 3rd October via Transgressive Records / Canvasback.
The band have launched the announcement with new single ‘Wide Awake’, ahead of supporting The Smashing Pumpkins on their UK tour next month. The track showcases their jagged, fuzzed-out sound, balanced with vocalist Alithea Tuttle’s hypnotic vocals.
“‘R is for Rocket’ is about relationships, the most important part of life; relationships with your friends, your parents, your girlfriend or boyfriend, and most importantly your relationship with yourself,” the band explain. “‘Wide Awake’ is the perfect balance of all the elements of this record. After years in the making and countless versions, we’re excited to finally share it.”
The album was recorded across two Los Angeles studios – 64 Sound in Highland Park and Foo Fighters’ Studio 606 in Northridge – with guitarist Desi Scaglione producing. “Recording the second half of the album eight months after the first half gave us a lot of time to think about what we were doing. We ended up re-recording three songs because we felt like we could just do better,” Scaglione notes.
“All of the touring led to the songs changing for the better, because we got to play them for so many different kinds of audiences and hear what worked and what didn’t,” adds Tuttle.
