Hot Chip have announced their first Best Of album ‘Joy In Repetition’, set for release on 5th September.
The collection spans the band’s eight studio albums and features a new track titled ‘Devotion’. The compilation maps Hot Chip’s evolution across more than two decades, during which they’ve achieved six Top 20 albums and a Mercury Prize nomination.
The album’s title references both the lyrics of their track ‘Over and Over’ and one of Alexis Taylor’s favourite Prince songs. The artwork, created by Sir Peter Blake, features a painted monkey with a miniature cymbal, nodding to their hit ‘Over and Over’.
“There’s joy in doing something again and again,” Taylor says. “That’s true of rhythms, of grooves and of making records together for 20 years. We’re still doing it. We still love doing it.” Speaking about the new track ‘Devotion’, he adds, “It’s a celebration of the devotion to doing this project together.”
