The Maccabees are going to reissue two classic albums on vinyl ahead of their reunion shows

The Maccabees are set to reissue two of their most celebrated albums, 2007’s ‘Colour It In’ and 2012’s ‘Given To The Wild’, on vinyl this summer ahead of their headline appearance at All Points East.

The reissues, arriving on 22nd August, will see their debut album ‘Colour It In’ pressed on two-sided zoetrope vinyl, designed in collaboration with Orlando Weeks. The release includes the original album alongside seven bonus tracks from the 2008 Special Edition, including their cover of Richard Hawley’s ‘Just Like The Rain’. Meanwhile, ‘Given To The Wild’ will receive its first vinyl pressing since its initial release, presented as a double orange translucent vinyl with new gatefold packaging.

“One of the things we are most proud of in the history of our music is how different each Maccabees album is,” guitarist Felix White explains. “Colour It In was full of songs we had built as teenagers: the sound of a band racing each other to the finish line, all the attention on manic playing together in a room, with almost no effects. Given To The Wild is almost the exact opposite: all about atmosphere, limitless layers and reaching for beauty. It’s the sound of two completely different bands, but somehow, with perspective, both are as ‘Maccabees’ as each other. I love that.”

The band have recently returned to live performance, beginning with an intimate show at The Dome for the MS Society, followed by a headline set at Glastonbury’s Park Stage.
