Kneecap have teased an upcoming announcement scheduled for 6pm this evening, ahead of their appearance at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
The Irish hip-hop trio are set to perform on the West Holts stage at Worthy Farm on Saturday 28th June at 4pm. The group shared a brief message on Instagram stating: “Important message coming. 6pm today.”
The announcement comes amid recent developments surrounding the group. Member Mo Chara – real name Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh – appeared in court earlier this week following charges related to an incident at a show last November, where he was released on unconditional bail.
Several musicians have voiced their support for the group, including Johnny Marr, who stated: “I stand with my audience and fellow musicians who call for an immediate end to the atrocities and a free Palestine.” Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten has described the charges against Mo Chara as “a witch hunt.”
The BBC have confirmed they will proceed with their planned coverage of Kneecap’s Glastonbury performance on the West Holts stage, noting that the broadcast may be edited in line with editorial guidelines.
