AJ Tracey has shared new single ‘3rd Time Lucky’, a tribute to his mother’s battle and recovery from cancer.
The track arrives as the latest preview of the Dork cover star’s third studio album ‘Don’t Die Before You’re Dead’, which is set for release on 13th June via Revenge Records.
“‘3rd Time Lucky’ is about going through tough times with your loved ones, but coming through stronger at the end of it. I wanted to be honest but also hopeful, to help give strength to all those who need it,” Tracey explains.
The single is accompanied by an animated video directed by LateMilk and Imbro, featuring hand-made puppets brought to life through stop-motion animation and produced by Ocurens.
The release sees Tracey partnering with cancer support charity Maggie’s, with £1 from every purchase of the ‘3rd Time Lucky’ CD and keyring bundle being donated to the organisation. Dame Laura Lee DBE, Chief Executive of Maggie’s, says: “We are incredibly grateful to AJ for thinking of us and including us at the end of his music video for his new single ‘3rd Time Lucky’.”
‘Don’t Die Before You’re Dead’ features collaborations with Jorja Smith, Aitch, and Headie One, following previous singles ‘Crush’, ‘Friday Prayer’, and ‘Paid In Full’.
Tracey has announced a live show at PRYZM in Kingston on 13th June to mark the album’s release.
