Lexie Liu has returned with new single ‘FFFFF’, accompanied by a surreal video set in an old English mansion.
The self-taught Chinese producer and pop star’s latest track follows her spring release ‘POP GIRL’, continuing her exploration of eccentric, nostalgia-tinted electronic pop. The song draws inspiration from Y2K dance tracks, including Kesha’s ‘Take It Off’, 3OH!3’s ‘DONTTRUSTME’, and Basshunter’s ‘DotA’.
‘FFFFF’ represents a more emotionally raw direction for Liu, focusing on authentic expression rather than calculated responses. “I don’t want to feel ashamed of needing something,” Liu says. “Even in my most chaotic moments, I want to hold on to my right to express it.”
The accompanying music video, set in 2007, features Liu as a teenage vampire with mind manipulation abilities living in an English estate house.
