Gorillaz have announced four special one-off performances at London’s Copper Box Arena, revisiting iconic live shows from their first three album eras.
The limited-capacity shows, taking place between 29th August and 3rd September, will coincide with the closing week of the band’s House of Kong exhibition. Each performance will see Damon Albarn and the full Gorillaz live band perform complete albums, featuring visuals by Jamie Hewlett.
The first show on 29th August will recreate the band’s earliest performances of their self-titled debut album, originally staged at venues including London’s Scala. The 30th August performance will bring back ‘Demon Days Live’, previously only performed during a limited run at Manchester Opera House and Harlem’s Apollo Theater in 2005-2006. On 2nd September, Gorillaz will perform ‘Plastic Beach’ in full for the first time since its initial shows at London’s Roundhouse in March 2010. The series concludes with a mystery show on 3rd September, featuring special guests.
Priority access to tickets will be given to House of Kong exhibition ticket holders. The exhibition, running from 8th August to 3rd September at Copper Box, offers visitors a look into the band’s history.
