Wolf Alice’s Ellie Rowsell says the band’s new album ‘The Clearing’ will surprise fans

Wolf Alice have revealed that fans should expect surprises on their forthcoming album ‘The Clearing’, with the band explaining their new single ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ isn’t representative of the full record’s sound.

Speaking on Radio X’s Evening Show with Dan O’Connell, vocalist Ellie Rowsell discussed the band’s new material, saying: “I feel like yes, it is a taste, but I think you’ll maybe be surprised when you listen to the rest of the record in the context of ‘Bloom Baby Bloom.’ But yeah, a little bit of a taster, but don’t think there’s going to be a bunch more ‘Bloom Baby Blooms.’”

Discussing the new single, Rowsell explained the track explores themes of self-empowerment, noting: “I like that you said it feels like a mantra, because I like the idea that of someone listening to it and feeling like that about themselves.”

When asked about the vocal style on ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ and comparisons to Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose, Rowsell responded: “Oh my God, I would never dare try to do that! But I think I was kind of thinking about rock singers who sing in falsetto, and he’s obviously like… I get scared that I mentioned Axl Rose, because I don’t actually know a lot of his music! But yeah, stylistically he can go very high, can’t he?”

‘The Clearing’ is set for release on 29th August.
