Kid Kapichi have announced a final show with their original lineup at De La Warr Pavilion

Kid Kapichi have announced their final show with their original line-up, set to take place at De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill On Sea on 12th July.

The Hastings band, who have been together for a decade, are preparing for a new chapter as guitarist Ben Beetham and drummer George Macdonald depart the group. The pair will remain connected to the band creatively, with vocalist Jack Wilson and bassist Eddie Lewis continuing to lead Kid Kapichi forward.

“We’ve experienced all the highs and lows of being in this project together,” Wilson and Lewis reflect, “And nothing can take away from all the victories we’ve shared, but the time felt right for them to explore pastures new.”

Beetham and Macdonald explain their departure: “If you treat a band with the energy and focus it requires, it doesn’t leave much room for other things. And that means when you are ready to venture into fresh territory, you owe it to the project to let it carry on without you rather than give it less than it deserves.”

“The four of us have shared this band for a long time, but beyond that we share a friendship, a history, a community and so much more that carries on even though our time under the Kapichi banner is ending.”

The band’s career has included three EPs and three studio albums, with their most recent two releases coming via Spinefarm Records. Details of the new line-up are set to be announced soon.
