Nia Archives has launched a new record label, Up Ya Archives, dedicated to showcasing new generation junglism and underground electronic music.
The Bradford-born producer marks the label’s inception with single ‘Get Loose’, a collaboration with Bristol-based producer Cheetah.
“Get Loose is about getting loose with the gang. It’s us being care free and not caring too much about what everyone else is up to, we just wanna have some fun!” Archives explains.
Cheetah adds: “The track came together pretty naturally. It’s essentially an ode to soundsystem and party culture. It’s about that feeling of being completely one on one with the music, head buried into the rig and feeling the bass rattle your ribs. It’s all pretty simple but super energetic, the lyrics are literally an instruction. We took huge inspiration from soca letting the super energetic vocals take control of the track.”
The label launch coincides with a new monthly Up Ya Archives x NTS Radio residency, with Archives and Cheetah hosting the inaugural show. Up Ya Archives plans to release 8-12 releases annually, focusing on music within the 150-170 BPM range.
