Solange Knowles and Saint Heron are set to present a multi-disciplinary series celebrating Houston’s Eldorado Ballroom in partnership with Performing Arts Houston.
The six-programme series, titled Eldorado Ballroom Houston, will take place across various iconic venues including Jones Hall, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the historic Eldorado Ballroom. Following successful iterations at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2023 and Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles in 2024, the series now returns to Knowles’ hometown.
The programme includes ‘On Dissonance’, featuring orchestral and operatic works by Black female composers including Julia Perry and Patrice Rushen, alongside compositions by Knowles herself. ‘Type of Guest’ will showcase experimental performances from Houston-born Autumn Knight and Dallas native Liv.e, while ‘Paper in My Shoe’ celebrates Zydeco and folk music with performances by Kara Jackson and Rosie Ledet.
“We’re thrilled to work with Solange and Saint Heron to present her vision right here in her hometown,” says Performing Arts Houston President & CEO Meg Booth. “Collaborating with Solange, Saint Heron, and Project Row Houses to shine a light on the Eldorado’s legacy of inspiring Black creativity and community with so many great artists is an enormous honor.”
Project Row Houses Executive Director Danielle Burns Wilson adds: “We could not be more excited about Solange Knowles’ return to Third Ward and the Eldorado Ballroom at Project Row Houses. She is so much a part of this building’s history–her creative energy has reverberated in the ballroom’s air since A Seat at the Table. Now, she’ll be back to deepen that connection and supercharge the energy in this historic venue.”
