Peter Doherty has shared ‘The Day The Baron Died’ from his new album

Peter Doherty is teasing his new album ‘Felt Better Alive’, set for release via Strap Originals on 16th May.

New single ‘The Day The Baron Died’ is accompanied by a video filmed in Etretat, Normandy. The gothic-themed visual, directed by Thad & Numa, features Doherty and Katia deVidas Doherty.

Speaking about the new track, Doherty says: “I always thought it was a weird jazz number, with a silly, catchy little melody. It’s a kind of homage to [John Lennon’s] ‘Instant Karma’, not the lyrics but the weird off time drum fill in the chorus. And I’m not gonna explain what the song’s about because I’m working on a follow up!”

The album follows Doherty’s 2022 collaboration with Frederic Lo, ‘The Fantasy Life of Poetry & Crime’, and comes after The Libertines’ chart-topping 2024 album ‘All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade’. A 7″ vinyl single featuring two non-album tracks, ‘Océan’ and ‘Honky Noir’, will also be released.

Former The Smiths drummer Mike Joyce will join Doherty’s band for select shows on his upcoming tour. The dates in full read:
