Self Esteem has dropped a new single “about hope, perseverance and patience”, ‘If Not Now, It’s Soon’

Self Esteem has released new single ‘If Not Now, It’s Soon’, alongside announcing her biggest UK tour to date.

The new track, which debuted as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record, draws inspiration from Rebecca Lucy Taylor’s pre-fame experiences. The song features actress Julie Hesmondalgh, who delivers a spoken word segment.

“Personally, you have to wait and one day you’ll get somewhere less painful. But the world will hopefully get somewhere less painful too. It’s about hope, perseverance and patience!” Taylor explains.

‘A Complicated Woman’, set for release on 25th April via Polydor Records, follows Taylor’s BRIT and Mercury Prize-nominated album ‘Prioritise Pleasure’. The new record features collaborations with artists including Nadine Shah, Moonchild Sanelly, and Sue Tompkins from Life Without Buildings.

The album’s tracklist spans twelve songs, including previously released singles ‘Focus Is Power’ and ’69’. The record incorporates a choir comprising dozens of female voices, including close friends, band members, and collaborators.
