Dua Lipa has brought out Troye Sivan for a surprise performance of ‘Rush’ during her Melbourne show at Rod Laver Arena.
The performance took place during Lipa’s fourth show of a five-night run at the venue, where she has been incorporating covers of Australian artists into her setlist. Before introducing ‘Rush’, Lipa addressed the crowd about her cover choices, saying, “So this next song in the set is different every night,” explaining that she has been performing songs “by a local artist.”
“And so tonight, I thought it would be a big mistake if I didn’t play one of my favourite, favourite artists who’s also a friend of mine,” she continued. “This is a song I’ve been listening to for a really long time – I mean, 2023 until now – but this is a Saturday night banger, so I think it’s going to be a fun one.”
The shows form part of Lipa’s tour in support of her album ‘Radical Optimism’. During her Melbourne residency, she has performed covers of Kylie Minogue’s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’, Natalie Imbruglia’s ‘Torn’, and AC/DC’s ‘Highway To Hell’.
