Wishy have shared new single ‘Over and Over’, taken from their upcoming EP ‘Planet Popstar’, set for release on 25th April via Winspear.
“The major themes of this song revolve around desire, ambition, disappointment, acceptance, playing the cards you’re dealt, etc,” singer/guitarist Kevin Krauter explains. “I wrote this song in 2020 before the band existed, and since then had no plans to properly record and release it. I knew Ben would crush it on the mix and production, however, and Nina’s voice would send it over the edge. It simply had to be a Wishy song.”
The EP’s title track, released in late 2024, draws its name from the Nintendo character Kirby’s home world. The release features Krauter on lead vocals alongside Nina Pitchkites’ harmonies. The vinyl edition will be released as a double-sided 12-inch, with Wishy’s 2023 EP ‘Paradise’ appearing on the reverse side, titled ‘Paradise on Planet Popstar’.
Following their 2023 EP ‘Paradise’ and 2024 debut album ‘Triple Seven’, Wishy have performed on Colbert and appeared at SXSW. The band are set to support Momma on tour this spring.
