NewJeans fans petition Seoul court to dismiss ADOR’s injunction against group

NewJeans/NJZ fans have signed a petition requesting the dismissal of ADOR’s injunction against the group in Seoul court.

Approximately 30,000 fans, including both domestic and international supporters, have added their names to the petition, which opened on 24th February. The coalition of fans released an accompanying statement addressing their position on the legal proceedings.

The petition follows the first hearing of ADOR’s injunction, which has been expanded to include a ban on all of NewJeans’ independent music and entertainment activities, beyond the initial scope of preventing independent brand deals.

“We support the members’ termination of their exclusive contracts,” the fans’ statement reads. “Should they be forced to continue their activities with a company with whom their trust has been destroyed, then it would only prolong the members’ agony to continue working in a hostile environment, and neither the artists nor the fans would be able to enjoy their activities in the future.”

The statement continues: “We do not wish for their musical career to halt due to outside factors. We ask the court turn down ADOR’s injunction on the members’ activities so that they may continue in a safe and happy environment with people who the members can trust.”

ADOR have responded to queries about the expanded injunction, stating it was implemented “to ensure that they can continue their activities under our existing contractual agreement” rather than “hinder the artists’ careers.”
