Bon Iver have announced two new singles ahead of their forthcoming fifth album ‘SABLE, fABLE’, with one track featuring Danielle Haim.
The band will release ‘If Only I Could Wait’ featuring Danielle and ‘Walk Home’ on 14th March, accompanied by lyric videos. Prior to the official release, both tracks will be previewed via In Such A Small Time Frame – a 24/7 trail camera feed and art installation that Justin Vernon established in Wisconsin last October. The installation has been used by Vernon to communicate with viewers since its inception.
The singles will appear on ‘SABLE, fABLE’, set for release on 11th April via Jagjaguwar. The album follows 2019’s ‘i,i’ and includes the previously released tracks ‘Things Behind Things Behind Things’, ‘S P E Y S I D E’, ‘Awards Season’, and ‘Everything Is Peaceful Love’. Additional tracks include ‘Short Story’, ‘Day One’ featuring Dijon and Flock Of Dimes, ‘There’s A Rhythm’, and ‘Au Revoir’.
The album, produced by Vernon and Jim-E Stack, was primarily recorded at Vernon’s April Base studio in Wisconsin. The project’s conceptual foundation was established in February 2022 during a snowbound recording session with Stack and Haim. During this period, Vernon and Haim collaborated on ‘If Only I Could Wait’, exploring themes of self-improvement beyond the initial stages of romance.
The album marks a departure from the layered production of Vernon’s previous works, presenting a more direct approach to songwriting. Each track is designed to convey specific lessons, with the album examining themes of commitment and personal growth within relationships.
