Chappell Roan continues to tease her new single ‘The Giver’

Chappell Roan has revealed snippets of her new country-influenced single ‘The Giver’, set to arrive on 13th March.

The singer has shared multiple preview clips of the track on TikTok, featuring herself and creative director Ramisha Sattar performing choreographed dances. The previews showcase the song’s chorus: “Cause you ain’t got to tell me / It’s just in my nature / So take it like a taker, ’cause, baby, I’m a giver/ Ain’t no need to hurry, ’cause, baby, I deliver / Ain’t no country boy quitter / I get the job done.”

‘The Giver’ was first performed during Roan’s appearance on Saturday Night Live in November, where she introduced it by telling the audience: “All you country boys saying you know how to treat a woman right. Well, only a woman knows how to treat a woman right.”

Producer Dan Nigro previously told The New York Times that fans could expect a “fun, up-tempo country song” featuring a fiddle, presenting “a new version” of the singer. Roan has announced vinyl pre-orders for the single in two variants – ‘The Plumber edition’ and ‘The Lawyer edition’ – which are expected to ship in August.

“We’ve never done a country song and I have such a special place in my heart for country music,” Roan says. “I grew up listening to it every morning and afternoon on my school bus and had it swirling around me at bon fires, grocery stores and karaoke bars.”

Addressing speculation about her next album’s direction, Roan adds: “Many people have asked if this means I’m making a country album??? My answer is.. hmm right now I’m just making songs that make me feel happy and fun and The Giver is my take on cuntry xoxo may the classic country divas lead their genre, I am just here to twirl and do a little gay yodel for yall.”

The release follows Roan’s recent performance with Elton John at his Oscars viewing party, where she performed ‘Pink Pony Club’ as a duet, alongside renditions of ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me’ and ‘Your Song’.
