Haim have announced their new single ‘Relationships’ will arrive on 12th March.
The sister trio have been teasing their return to music over recent weeks, initially sharing a snippet of the track on TikTok before previewing it at a fan event in London on 7th March.
Alongside the announcement, the band have shared a teaser video that appears to be from the single’s music video. The clip shows the sisters on an orange velvet sofa while Danielle delivers the lyrics: “I hear a voice in my head and it keeps asking why am I in this relationship.” The video then cuts to various scenes, including Danielle in a car, at a club, and the three sisters facing the camera.
The band’s most recent album release was 2020’s ‘Women In Music Pt. III’, though they did share the standalone single ‘Home’ in 2023. Their return was first hinted at through an Instagram post from Danielle’s birthday celebration with the caption “(ha)i’m single.. haim single?”, followed by a video of the trio dancing to M83’s ‘Midnight City’.
The single’s artwork appears to reference the widely-circulated photographs of Nicole Kidman from 2001, which were initially thought to show the actress leaving her lawyer’s office following her divorce from Tom Cruise. Kidman later clarified to British GQ: “That was from a film; that wasn’t real life.”
