Calvin Harris has shared a teaser of a new country-inspired track titled ‘Smoke The Pain Away’.
The Scottish DJ and producer posted a clip on Instagram which sees him performing an acoustic guitar melody alongside his own vocals. The preview features Harris singing reflective lyrics: “Eyes sparkle like sun in June / Grow up and wait for you / Wide awake in a hotel room / Thinkin’, ‘Oh, what I could do’,” followed by: “Too late, I’ve been up for days / I can’t even see straight / No, I can’t smoke the pain away.”
The new material marks Harris’ first major return to providing vocals in several years, following his collaboration with Ellie Goulding on ‘Free’ in 2024. Prior to this, he released a remix of his 2016 Rihanna collaboration ‘This Is What You Came For’ in November, titled ‘Calvin Harris VIP Mix – Amazon Music Original’.
Harris recently collected the Best Electronic award at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester, where he emerged victorious against nominees including David Guetta, Disclosure and Fred Again.
