University are back with their fab new single ‘Massive Twenty One Pilots Tattoo’

University have released their new single ‘Massive Twenty One Pilots Tattoo’ via Transgressive, marking their first new material since their 2023 debut EP ‘Title Track’.

The track, produced by the band alongside Kwes Darko and Andrea Cozzaglio, takes its name from a game of “what would be the worst tattoo in the world?” The single maintains the band’s signature heavy and hardcore sound while incorporating moments of softer musical clarity.

“It’s a side effect of taking the rest of it more seriously,” explains vocalist Zak Bowker, discussing how the Crewe-based four-piece have balanced their recent label signing with pushing their sound in more extreme and absurdist directions.

The band, comprising Bowker, bassist Ewan Barton, drummer Joel Smith, and mascot Eddie, previously released their debut EP ‘Title Track’ in 2023, which included the tracks ‘King Size Slim’, ‘Notre Dame Made Out Of Flesh’, and ‘Egypt Tune’.
