Wishy have announced a new six-song EP titled ‘Planet Popstar’, set for release on 25th April via Winspear. The band have also shared new single ‘Fly’, accompanied by a video featuring footage from their 2024 tours.
The EP comprises b-side tracks recorded during the sessions for their debut album ‘Triple Seven’. The collection will be released as a double EP vinyl set, paired with their debut EP ‘Paradise’, which has never received a physical release. The combined release is titled ‘Paradise on Planet Popstar’.
“We really wanted to lean into the high-production style and had a lot of fun in the studio using these songs as an opportunity to explore a more polished, adult-contemporary feel,” says singer/guitarist Kevin Krauter.
Speaking about ‘Fly’, Nina Pitchkites explains: “This song conveys a general theme of enjoying the present, being in love, and not taking yourself too seriously. Me, Kevin, and Steve Marino co-wrote this song around the same time we wrote the track ‘Triple Seven’. It was one of several demos that Steve brought to the table for us to toy with.”
