Miley Cyrus performs ‘Flowers’ at SNL 50th anniversary concert in New York

Miley Cyrus has performed ‘Flowers’ at Saturday Night Live’s SNL 50: The Homecoming concert on 14th February.

The performance saw Cyrus engage with the audience during her rendition of the Record of the Year winning track, referencing her recent Grammy Awards appearance. “Are y’all doing that Grammys thing where you guys are famous and shit and don’t sing along? Excuse my language,” she said to the New York City crowd.

During the performance, Cyrus acknowledged several celebrities in attendance, including Adam Sandler, whom she referred to as her “buddy”, and Paul Rudd, to whom she called out “I love you Paul Rudd!” prompting the actor to blow a kiss from his seat in the audience. The performance concluded with Cyrus taking a bow and addressing SNL creator Lorne Michaels, saying “I love you, Lorne Michaels!”

The appearance marks Cyrus’s latest contribution to Saturday Night Live, having previously hosted three times and performed as a musical guest on four occasions, with her most recent appearance in 2021.

SNL launched its 50th season in September, with the anniversary celebrations including various special content such as the feature film Saturday Night and a Questlove-directed documentary focusing on the show’s musical heritage.

Cyrus has recently discussed her next musical direction, revealing that her upcoming studio album has taken inspiration from Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’, though she describes it as being “more glamorous and filled with pop culture”.
