Somebody’s Child releases new single ‘Irish Goodbye’ ahead of second album

Somebody’s Child have shared new single ‘Irish Goodbye’, the third track to be lifted from their forthcoming second album ‘When Youth Fades Away’.

The new single follows previous releases ‘Time Of My Life’ and ‘Last Night I Held Your Hand’ from the Dublin band’s upcoming record, which arrives via Frenchkiss Records.

‘Irish Goodbye’, named after the practice of leaving social events without announcement, explores themes of youth and transition from the perspective of an adult addressing their younger self, examining regrets about taking youth for granted and moving into adulthood without acknowledgment.

Vocalist and songwriter Cian Godfrey explains: “‘Irish Goodbye’ is a breath of fresh air within the album itself, and exemplifies the tone and theme of the album best, in my opinion, from a lyrical standpoint. It highlights the transient nature of time, and on some level, it perhaps describes the parting of youth, without notice, at some point, unbeknownst to us.”
