SZA has announced that new songs from the extended edition of ‘Lana’ will arrive today.
The tracks form part of an updated version of the album, which was released in December as a deluxe edition of her 2022 record ‘SOS’. While SZA had initially confirmed that “updated mixes” and “new songs” would arrive on 6th January, the release was delayed.
The announcement of today’s release came via the singer’s official website, which simply states “New Songs Coming” alongside a pre-save link. The new material will arrive at 7pm EST (12am GMT, 10th February).
The release coincides with SZA’s appearance at the Super Bowl half time show, where she will perform as Kendrick Lamar’s special guest. The two artists previously collaborated on ‘Lana’ track ’30 For 30′, following SZA’s appearance on Lamar’s album ‘GNX’.
‘SOS’ has received nine Grammy nominations and reached Number One on the Billboard 200, alongside Number Two on the UK singles chart. The record has achieved 3x Platinum certification in the US.
Separately, SZA’s new comedy film ‘One Of Them Days’, co-starring Keke Palmer, is set for UK cinema release on 7th March. The film, which marks the first R-rated female Black comedy in cinemas since 2017’s ‘Girl Trip’, has achieved commercial success in the US, reaching second place at the box office behind ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’.
