Nxdia explores gender and dysphoria with their addictive new single ‘Boy Clothes’

Nxdia has released their new single ‘Boy Clothes’, exploring their gender journey and experiences with gender dysphoria.

The track follows their previous single ‘Feel Anything’, released in November 2024. During this period, the Egyptian-Sudanese singer-songwriter underwent top surgery, a significant moment that influenced the creation of ‘Boy Clothes’.

“I think there’s a freedom to being in ‘Boy Clothes’ that I feel and I’m trying to communicate,” Nxdia says. “The sitting with your legs wide open, stretching and the lack of awareness and self consciousness – loads of ease and carefree energy we associate with being more masculine and in comfortable clothes. Your ‘Boy Clothes’ can be men’s clothing, comfy clothing, big clothing- a f*cking dress if it emboldens you. Everything you need to feel like hot sh*t walking around without trying too hard – cool without forcing it. I grew up wishing I could get away with the same things as my male peers, that it didn’t have to be such a thing or inappropriate when it wasn’t a guy doing it. The term ‘Boy Clothes’ is ridiculous in itself but we know exactly what I’m talking about when I say it, and the comfort and power we associate with it.”

The release is accompanied by a music video featuring a series of vignettes that showcase the themes of the track. Nxdia will perform ‘Boy Clothes’ alongside their other tracks at a sold-out headline show at Camden Assembly.
