Ellie Dixon has shared a video for her rebellious new party song, ‘Guts’

Ellie Dixon has shared a video for her new single ‘Guts’, a self-produced track mastered at Abbey Road Studios.

The release follows her previous single ‘Renaissance’ from winter 2024, arriving after a year that saw Dixon collaborate with VISA for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and tour with UPSAHL.

‘Guts’, which Dixon describes as “a samba-rock-dnb-pop fusion painting the frustrations of the anxious mind”, marks a new, heavier direction for the up-and-comer.

“Guts was born from a conversation I had with some friends who were sharing stories from their teenage years. As everyone told tales of parties and dates and rebellions I had nothing to contribute. As a nervous kid I wasn’t going out, wasn’t dating, wasn’t having the same sorts of adventures. In that moment I saw all of these experiences I had missed because of my anxiety and I felt a welling of anger. Guts is a therapeutic outlet for that anger. A party song for the people who weren’t at the parties. A song to shout out loud for the people who didn’t shout,” Dixon explains.

“The music video for ‘Guts’ is my favourite video I’ve ever made,” she adds. “It’s a fantastical visual metaphor for having a panic attack at a party – on the outside everything seems normal while inside you feel like the lights are flashing red and you’re in a full swing sword fight. The character portraying anxiety appears and disappears at random, leaving you wondering if any of it was real or not. Anxiety can feel very surreal and when you’re in your head you have this warped sense of reality which I really wanted to portray with this storyline. The high octane action pays respect to the intensity of our internal worlds and for the people who fight these unseen battles. I hope it helps people feel proud of what they get through and, to quote the song, brave for just being here.”
