Jamie xx and Erykah Badu turn festival mishap into pure gold
KEY UPDATE
UPDATED: 11:25 AM BY ANDREW WESCOTT
Jamie xx has dropped a surprise collab with neo-soul queen Erykah Badu called ‘F.U.’ – born from a genuinely magical moment at a Primavera after-party. When Badu’s gear decided to throw a proper wobbly mid-set, she went full freestyle queen, serving up an impromptu vocal performance that Jamie, being the savvy producer he is, captured on his phone like a proper fan before turning it into absolute gold in the studio.
The track appears on the just-dropped deluxe edition of ‘In Waves’, loaded with five fresh tracks, including ‘F.U.’, ‘Do Something’, and the already-beloved trio of ‘It’s So Good’, ‘LET’S DO IT AGAIN’, and ‘KILL DEM’. The whole expanded package is available now across all your favourite streaming platforms, ready to soundtrack your next existential dance party.
Chase & Status are bringing the rave to Victoria Park (and we’re already sweating)
KEY UPDATE
UPDATED: 10:42 AM BY DAN HARRISON
Chase & Status are set to transform All Points East into the UK’s sweatiest dance party this summer, announcing their first-ever headline slot at the festival.
The duo will bring their RTRN II DANCE takeover to Victoria Park on Saturday August 16th, with a massive supporting cast including Overmono, jungle queen Nia Archives, and bass wizard Sammy Virji joining the party. It’s all part of what’s shaping up to be the festival’s most diverse lineup yet, with The Maccabees, Raye, and Barry Can’t Swim already confirmed as fellow headliners. Tickets go on general sale at 10am GMT on Thursday February 13th, but there are a few ways to get ahead of the queue. Amex cardholders can snag tickets from Monday February 10th, while an artist pre-sale kicks off at 10am GMT on February 12th. The announcement comes as Chase & Status are riding high on two BRIT Award nominations and are gearing up for a massive UK arena tour this spring – including a stop at The O2 on May 3rd.
Lady Gaga reckons going jazz was her biggest musical plot twist
UPDATED: 10:40 AM BY LUCY PHILLIPS
In a refreshingly candid chat with ELLE, pop’s foremost chaos merchant Lady Gaga has revealed that her jazzy detour with Tony Bennett was apparently her riskiest career move. Speaking ahead of her new album ‘Mayhem’, Mother Monster explained how “a lot of people didn’t want me to do it, but I did it anyway”. Her new record ‘Mayhem’ is set to drop on 7th March, with a brand new single and video arriving during the Grammy Awards on 2nd February. She’s also lined up to headline Coachella 2025 alongside Post Malone and Green Day, and will be lending her pipes to the LA Wildfires benefit concert with a stellar cast including Billie Eilish and Stevie Nicks.
Damiano David goes full Spaghetti Western on Miley Cyrus cover
KEY UPDATE
UPDATED: 10:39 AM BY LUCY PHILLIPS
Måneskin’s resident heartbreaker Damiano David has covered Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus’ ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’, turning the disco-country banger into a proper Ennio Morricone moment for Spotify’s Valentine’s Day singles series.
The Italian rockstar has stripped back the original’s glossy production in favour of a stomping acoustic take that sounds like it was recorded in the dustiest saloon this side of Rome. The cover arrives as David gears up for an massive world tour that’ll see him hitting just about every corner of the planet from September 2025 through December. UK fans can catch him at London’s Roundhouse for two nights on 28th and 29th September 2025, where he’ll presumably be serving up more of the “excessive, dramatic, theatrical” vibes he’s been promising for his upcoming debut solo album.
