Viagra Boys have announced their new album ‘viagr aboys’, set for release on 25th April via their newly launched label Shrimptech Enterprises.
The Stockholm post-punk band’s latest record has been co-produced by frequent collaborator Pelle Gunnerfeldt alongside the group. Accompanying the announcement, they have shared new single ‘Man Made of Meat’, which draws inspiration from vocalist Sebastian Murphy‘s experiences touring the US with Queens of the Stone Age last year.
Following 2022’s ‘Cave World’, Murphy explains the shift in focus for their latest work: “The whole political thing was exhausting,” he says. “This is like a self-titled album but a bit simple and stupid — because that’s how I am.”
The eleven-track album features artwork created by Leo Park, with the new single arriving alongside a video directed by Daniel Björkman. Speaking about the visual, Björkman says: “Imagination is gone. Creativity is a concept. Stealing is caring. Theft is priceless. Money a means to an end. Art is a lie. Computers are useless. Music is the ultimate teacher. Taste the enemy of creativity, and a better future. Artificial imagination is here. The world doesn’t make sense, so why should we make images that do?”
The band have also announced their infinite anxiety tour for 2025, which includes appearances at Coachella and dates across Europe, the UK, and North America.
