New Order have released a ‘Blue Monday’ t-shirt to support mental health charity CALM

New Order have announced a new charity t-shirt in collaboration with CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), marking their third consecutive year working with the mental health organisation.

The limited edition t-shirt features the original synthesizer used to write ‘Blue Monday’, alongside lyrics from the 1983 track which read: “I find it so hard to say what I need to say”. The release coincides with Blue Monday – the third Monday in January, which is often referred to as the most challenging day of the year for mental health.

New Order explain: “Starting a conversation with somebody could be the most important conversation that person ever has. It could be life-changing.” The band continue: “We feel, as CALM ambassadors, we have the perfect lyrics and message to get out there on the 2025 edition of the CALM Blue Monday t-shirts. And knowing that all the money raised will help make sure CALM are there for even more people who are struggling makes it even more powerful.”

The collaboration follows the band’s previous work with CALM, including their participation in a suicide prevention video for World Mental Health Day in October 2023. In 2022, band members Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris addressed Parliament regarding mental health and suicide prevention, coinciding with the 42nd anniversary of Joy Division vocalist Ian Curtis’s passing.

The t-shirts are available for £29.99, with £10 from each sale being donated to CALM.
