Krept & Konan have announced plans to open Saveways, billed as Britain’s first large-scale supermarket specifically designed for Black, Asian, and ethnic communities.
The UK rap duo are partnering with entrepreneur Kaysor Ali to launch the 15,000 sq. ft store in their hometown of Croydon. Opening at 102 Beddington Lane, the supermarket will create over 30 new jobs in the area.
“It’s an honour for us to partner up on this venture. We are all about representation in the community and finding solutions, we are all from underrepresented communities so this is a perfect partnership. Saveways is game-changing for our community and we are excited to bring this vision to life,” Krept & Konan say.
Co-founder Kaysor Ali adds: “Together, we’ve combined our skills, networks, and passion to create a supermarket experience that not only serves the community but sets a new standard for quality, inclusivity, and excellence in the UK food retail space. This partnership has allowed Saveways to become more than just a supermarket, it’s a statement of culture, unity, and progress for our communities.”
The store will feature a fresh halal meat and poultry counter, exotic fish selection, bakery section, and global produce alongside household essentials and ethnic hair and beauty products. Modern shopping solutions including click & collect and delivery via platforms such as Uber Eats, Deliveroo, and Just Eat will be available.
The venture marks the latest business project from Krept & Konan, following their restaurant Crepes & Cones and Krept’s Nala’s Baby skincare range. The duo are also set to release their new album ‘Young Kingz II’ on 7th February.
