The Velveteers have released new single ‘Bound In Leather’, the final preview of their upcoming album ‘A Million Knives’, set for release via Easy Eye Sound.
The Colorado trio, featuring frontwoman Demi Demitro and dual drummers Baby Pottersmith and Jonny Fig performing on a conjoined kit, have crafted a track that blends vintage disco grooves with their signature rock sound.
“To me, ‘Bound In Leather’ feels like looking through a kaleidoscope,” Demitro explains. “It’s a song about feeling bound in your skin, the chorus in part being inspired by a type of dysphoria. Feeling trapped by your own skin and wishing you weren’t bound by its limitations here on earth. It also has many themes of feeling guarded and needing someone to prove their trust to you, ’cause they aren’t going to win it over so easily.”
The track was written in collaboration with Greg Cartwright and Dan Auerbach in Nashville. “When we started coming up with the lyrics, I was singing and Dan kept telling me to sing higher and higher. Singing falsetto is something I don’t normally do but it just felt really right for the song,” Demitro adds.
The thirteen-track album follows their 2021 debut ‘Nightmare Daydream’, after which they supported Smashing Pumpkins and Guns N’ Roses. Previous singles from the new album include ‘On and On’, ‘Suck The Cherry’, and ‘Go Fly Away’.
