Hands Like Houses have dropped a single from ‘A T M O S P H E R I C S’, ‘Fatally Fractured’.
The 16-track double album is divided into four volumes: ‘Tropo(sphere)’, ‘Strato(sphere)’, ‘Meso(sphere)’, and ‘Thermo(sphere)’, marking a new era for the Australian band with frontman Josh Raven.
“This single is about losing the love of your life and being the one who is responsible for its demise because of a toxicity you can’t control. They’re the only positive thing you had, and now you’re left with your fractures and the immortal love they left behind,” the band say of their new track.
The concept behind the album emerged during a challenging period for the group, as bassist Joel Tyrrell explains: “Everything we knew had been swept away, and we really didn’t know if we would continue on as a band so we had to dig deep together and talk about what we wanted. Some of our happiest moments have been with the band so we wanted to re-shape our future.”
“The idea of floating through the different layers of the atmosphere to see what we could all see, hear and create together painted such a nice picture for how things were flowing with the introduction of our new singer, Josh,” the band continue. “Volume wasn’t the goal, but the spark had been lit and the idea’s were flowing, so we just kept adding layers to the Atmosphere. We have removed the pressure we used to place on ourselves. The songs didn’t have to fit a sound for an album, it can just exist as a moment in time, for that particular layer of the atmosphere.”
