War Child have announced the return of Secret 7″ for 2025, with seven tracks set to be pressed onto limited edition vinyl with unique artist-designed sleeves.
The charity initiative will see each track pressed 100 times, with creatives worldwide invited to design one-of-a-kind sleeves for the records. The resulting 700 pieces will be exhibited at Greenwich Peninsula’s NOW Gallery from 11th April to 1st June 2025.
This year’s selection includes ‘Warsong: Troxy Live 2024’ by The Cure, Frank Turner’s ‘Be More Kind’, ‘Merchant of Paradise’ by Gregory Porter, Jessie Ware’s ‘Beautiful People’, Keane’s ‘Black Rain’, Scissor Sisters’ ‘Return to Oz’, and a brand new exclusive track from Sophie Ellis-Bextor titled ‘Devotion’.
British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori will create etched designs for all 700 records, while public submissions for sleeve designs are open from 13th January to 28th February 2025.
“We at War Child are so pleased to announce the start of another Secret 7″‘s, marking the continuation of a beautifully creative endeavour,” says Charlotte Nimmo, Fundraising Engagement Director at War Child UK. “Every year, some of the best artists from around the world come together to create 700 truly one-of-a-kind records, to raise funds which enable us to protect, educate and support children whose lives have been affected by wars they didn’t start.”
The initiative, now in its ninth edition, has previously featured contributions from artists including Sir Anish Kapoor, Yoko Ono, Sir Peter Blake, David Shrigley, and Ai Weiwei.
