Girls Aloud are set to release a new version of ‘I’ll Stand By You’ featuring the late Sarah Harding on lead vocals to support BBC Children In Need.
The vocals were discovered in the Girls Aloud vault while the band were pulling together archive material for The Girls Aloud Show arena tour earlier this year, with the track originally released as the official BBC Children In Need single in 2004.
‘I’ll Stand By You – Sarah’s Version’ will premiere on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 breakfast show, with a new edit of the original video featuring unseen archive footage set to debut during the BBC Children in Need Appeal Show on 15th November.
The track, originally recorded by The Pretenders, was written by Chrissie Hynde, Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. Hynde says: “How wonderful to hear I’ll Stand By You with the lovely vocals of Sarah Harding leading the way for BBC Children in Need. Happy Christmas all!”
