The Maccabees are going to play their first show in eight years next summer, and they’ve unveiled some of the supports.
Headlining All Points East on 24th August 2025, the performance at London’s Victoria Park will mark a decade since the release of their final album ‘Marks To Prove It’, which hit Number 1 in the UK.
The band are also collaborating with festival organisers to curate the rest of the day’s lineup, with the initial bill featuring Bombay Bicycle Club, Dry Cleaning, The Cribs, Nilüfer Yanya, The Murder Capital, Divorce and Prima Queen.
The first steps toward the reunion began at guitarist Hugo White‘s wedding in February 2020, where the possibility of performing their song ‘Pelican’ was discussed. Singer Orlando Weeks explains: “I didn’t go because it was The Maccabees playing together again, but because it was a beautiful gesture to be invited and to contribute to the spirit of the day. What I wanted, band aside, was to find a way to be in each other’s lives in some way.”
Felix White adds of the significance of playing All Points East: “In the intervening years we’ve been to All Points East a lot, separately. It’s become a bit of a landmark festival for us, always checking who’s on the line-up. I’d go and have a great time throughout the day, but there was always this pinch of regret watching headliners that we could’ve done it ourselves one day too. I think we’re all kind of shocked and excited that we get to do it together again.”
For the band – completed by Rupert Jarvis and Sam Doyle – it will be their first show since the farewell performances at Alexandra Palace in 2017.
