Florence Rose has announced her debut EP with Laura Palmer inspired single, ‘Shiny New Girl’

Florence Rose is set to release her debut EP ‘My Lust Is My Religion’ on 11th November.

To mark the EP release, Florence will host a listening party on 11th November in Dalston, featuring a live performance, poetry readings, performance artists, tarot readings, merchandise and free drinks.

The alt-pop artist has shared the news alongside a new single and visualiser for ‘Shiny New Girl’, which draws inspiration from Twin Peaks character Laura Palmer.

Florence explains: “It’s a song about the desire to be beautiful and wanting so desperately to be loved, even in death. It also looks at the horrific reality of violence and abuse inflicted on young women across history.”

She continues: “Beneath its delicate façade of acoustic guitar and ethereal vocals lies a darker narrative, echoed in the lyrics such as “pick me up like roadkill” or “lick my scabs to show you care”. This juxtaposition between the gentle melody combined with dark subject matter creates a haunting contrast that feels highly feminine and vulnerable.”

Describing the EP, Florence says: “This EP explores the intensity of desire, lust, obsession, and the depths of emotion that desire can make us feel. It’s about (and for) those who feel everything so deeply, who carry a longing to be seen, to be saved, to believe in something greater than themselves.”

She adds: “We are consumed by the constant search for more, forever reaching outside ourselves, and I want these songs to play as a reminder to return to our true nature. To be a place where we can reconnect with the earth, where we are free to be wild again. To be women who run with wolves and scream with the birds – a return to innocence, to something raw and true.”
