Community, charity and change. FEVER 333 are never ones to water down their words or skirt around a subject, they speak plainly on social injustice throughout their discography. Their newest release, ‘Darker White’ spotlights themes of racial disparity and discrimination, described by the band as an exploration of “the intersection we will all find ourselves in at some point in our lives… the struggle we will inevitably face when identifying our metric for good or bad.”
The record opens with explosive single ‘New West Order’, acting akin to FEVER’s own walk-on music. Bold and impassioned, it sets the path for this new era, one in which they enter unafraid and unshrinking. “Let ’em know there’s a fever coming!” the band boast. FEVER 333 continue to champion their signature style of hardcore blended with hip-hop, layering synths with downtuned instrumentals and hard-punching percussion. Frontman Jason Aalon gives it his all in the chorus of ‘Pin Drop’ unleashing throat-tearing vocals. Against a blistering backdrop of kick drums and scuzzy guitars he screams out not only for blood but also for love. The rap and rock influences interplay seamlessly, and ‘Do or Die’ unveils some brilliant one-liners.
The beats are infectious, moving both mind and body. ‘Darker White’ is a fiery knockout, spitting heat capable of singing your brows. Lyrically wry and razor-sharp, this one is made to be listened to loud.
