Trash Boat have released a reminder not to compare yourself to others, new single ‘Better Than Yesterday’

Trash Boat have released a new single, ‘Better Than Yesterday’.

It’s the latest cut from their upcoming album ‘Heaven Can Wait’, set for release on 4th October via Hopeless Records.

The St Albans quintet’s fourth full-length album explores themes of introspection, anxiety, and societal frustration. Frontman Tobi Duncan explains, “Life is pretty chaotic. The world is pretty chaotic. I’m pretty chaotic, and this album is every piece of me and us as a band.”

Speaking about the new single, Duncan shares, “This song centres around the classic saying ‘comparison is the death of joy’. It creeps into everything I do, who does what I do better than me, who makes more money, who’s better looking, who’s stronger, who’s in a bigger band, focusing on everything that I haven’t (yet) managed to achieve and putting myself down because of it, rather than bigging myself up for what I have already done or focusing on achieving more.”

He adds, “This feeling can make you lose faith with anything creative and has crept into my mind regarding music multiple times. The song is a reminder to not try to be better than anyone other than yesterdays self, the only person you should focus on beating!”
